Walk in the idyllic St. Alban-Tal in Basel
Restaurant Café Papiermühle is situated in the beautiful, historic St. Alban-Tal in Basel, right by the Rhine. Take a stroll and discover old half-timbered houses, modern architecture, the medieval city wall and St. Alban’s Church – Basel's oldest monastic church. Romantic canals wind their way between the historic buildings, creating a picturesque atmosphere.
St. Alban-Tal also offers plenty of cultural highlights. Three museums are just a short walk from us. The Basler Papiermühle, the Swiss Museum for Paper, Writing and Printing, is right next door. The Museum of Contemporary Art (Kunstmuseum Basel) is a two-minute walk away, and the Cartoonmuseum is just seven minutes from us.

From Kleinbasel, enjoy a scenic journey with the St. Alban ferry, which docks just 100 meters from Restaurant Café Papiermühle in Basel.
You can also easily reach us by public transport: Take Tram 1, 2, or 15 to the Kunstmuseum stop, or Tram 3 to the St. Alban Tor stop. A short stroll through the picturesque neighbourhood will bring you to us.
The restaurant does not have its own parking, but you can park along the street by the Rhine. For guests with special needs, the restaurant is wheelchair accessible and barrier-free.
